D'AUTRES BORDS, Hogan Seamus

Matin à Arnhem

La nuit déjà sur sa fin  grisonne
et la lumière filtre par la fenêtre,
ayant changé en chemin la ville,
d’ombre en arbres et maisons.

Tandis qu’un autre jour se dégage
doucement  des bras de la nuit,
je peux entendre un oiseau esquisser
son premier chant et la bouilloire
qui se met à siffler.

Arnhem morning

The night already old and going grey,
Light seeping through the window,
having changed the town, from shadow,
into trees and houses on the way.

As another day begins to uncoil
gently from night’s embrace,
I can hear a bird trace
her first song and the keetle
stirring to boil.
